Rehhagel likely to extend contract with Greece until 2012

ATHENS - Otto Rehhagel is on the verge of extending his contract as coach of the Greece national team until 2012, local media reported Thursday. According to the reports, Rehhagel has already agreed a deal worth 1 million euros (1.57 million dollars) a year with the Greek Football Federation (EPO) and the contract is currently being checked over by the German's lawyers.

"We want to meet on Saturday. I'm interested in hearing what the (EPO) president has to say to me," Rehhagel told reporters in Athens.

Rehhagel led Greece to a shock Euro 2004 title in Portugal but his current contract runs out after this summer's Euro finals in Austria and Switzerland.
